that is unbelievably good news to hear. i am very happy for you and i hope that your good fortune continues for as long as possible.[dancing-banana][dancing-banana][dancing-banana]
I'm Selene Lilitu, I'm 26, a first degree dedicant of the Correllian Nativist Tradition, and I'm married to a wonderful man.
I'm glad your husband is finally ok with you practicing.
But I have a question, and please, if I'm being too nosy, tell me to buzz off! [grin]
Why was he so adamant about you not practicing before you got his permission? Was it because he didn't approve of your religion, being Christian, or was it that he was worried for you and for himself because your community is small minded?
I hope he realizes that everyone's path is a personal spiritual journey that has nothing to do with what names we use for the Divine?
He believes it is wrong for anyone to follow any other god than the one of the Christian Bible. I worship the God and Goddess, and after all, if the Christian God is as unfathomable and all powerful as the Bible says, then isn't it a little restrictive to only call on him in his male form? The Christian Bible says that God created humans in his own image, so it's fairly safe to assume that God is both male and female. I believe very firmly that it doesn't matter what divinity you call on anyway. I think it's foolish to try to segregate the gods, since they are so beyond our mortal minds to understand. It's almost like how small children try to insist that certain people have cooties.
But to each his own. I won't try to talk my husband out of his beliefs. If that's what he has such strong faith in then it would be wrong of me to try to take that away from him, just as it's wrong of him to try to criticize what I believe and practice.
i can understand the christian strictness about religion, my grandmother would probably have a heart attack if she knew that i was pagan. it is a little difficult to keep from her because i live with her, but i keep my spirits high and carry on.
Ash, I agree with you completely. I just hope that everyone will eventually realize that no way is wrong, and that no one has the monopoly on truth. Religion is the vehicle through which we put our spiritual beliefs into practice, and it is a very personal thing.
I'm from Barbados, my dear. Far away! It's suffocatingly hot here at the moment.
Merry Meet, I'm Storm and I'm from Cleveland, Ohio. I'm 30 til November and I'm one of the naughtier one on here. I love it here cause there are not many pagans here in C-town. Right now, We are dealing with heat and humidty
I see that it seems to be hot everywhere. XD It's warming up here in San Diego too. It's been a fairly mild summer until yesterday! (of course that's when I chose to go job hunting. XD)
"Naughty" maybe isn't the word for it. >D Deviant might work for those of us who stray from the normal "Lawl, let's go to church" crowd. Anyway, pleased to meet you!
