During my search I have noticed many sites talk about a Book of Shadows. I have heard of them and decided that I want to get one. I believe it will help me on my journey.

As I started to search for one I realized that I have no idea where to get one. Then I did not know if there was a good place to get one at. So, I decided to ask here since everyone has been so supportive and understanding.

So, where's the best place to get a Book of Shadows?

A book of shadows is not bought. It is something that you do yourself. It is best that way because it puts your energy into it. I have a three ring binder that I use, so i can put things into it and take out, rearrange, etc. The BOS has spells, things on the esbats, sabbats, you name it is in the BOS. I even have decorating ideas for the sabbats in my BOS. What is important to you goes into your BOS. Everyone does their BOS differently, but the basis is the same, it for our eyes only. I have never let anyone read my BOS. The best place to start is just to start writing down what is important for you. You can get ideas from books or websites as to what should go into the BOS, but it is best that you write it down your self.

Alright, so I sort of have one started. Putting into a three ring binder might be best. As you said, it's easy to take things in and out and to rearrange. What is esbats? I've heard of sabbats, I made a calendar with them on it. I've heard the word esbats but I haven't gotten around to look it up yet. It'd be a great help to know about it. Thanks again for the help.

Yes you can use binders, Notebooks, some even but there BOS on their computer. I personal got my made for me from Theis on this site. He does amazing work you can see it on the craft fourms. I pick the design myself & now IM doing the inside & i love my bos. Its your choose of what your BOS looks like what its made from. So on.

Like Windora said a Book of Shadows cannot be bought, it is made by you. And lemme tell ya it is never finished. You are always learning and discovering and finding new things that work for you. For now my BOS is in a binder as well, but I plan on getting a leather bound book, with the pages blank inside of course, and doin it that way from this site. Book Of Shadows Wiccan Pagan Witchcraft Ritual & Spell Supplies They are absolutely GORGEOUS and theres actually alot more supplies, if u wish to go that route and get things from an actual magickal place. (In reality you can get your supplies anywhere, even some from a grocery store!) Also, theres alot of information that you may find useful. As always, use you judgement and wisdom in what you find that you can/cannot use. Like I said before, You will just KNOW. Go with your first instinct and your 'gut' per se.

As for the Esbats and Sabbats, There are 8 Sabbats that make up the Wheel of the Year. The Sabbats are solar, seasonal and represent the cycle of birth, life, death and rebirth. These days are Samhain, Yule, Imbolc, Ostara, Beltain, Litha, Lughnasadh, and Mabon. Sabbats are celebrated in honor of the God, since it is His sacrifice of birth, life, death and rebirth that are represented by the Sabbats.
Esbats are the celebration of the 13 full moons that occur every year. The Esbats are lunar and represent the Goddess at her height of power. These are the times when Her magick is more potent than on any other day of the month. Hope this helps....I know this is alot of information and I remember when I first started, I absorbed everything like a sponge and just couldnt wait to learn more..Im STILL that way and get sooo excited when I come across some useful info that Ive never seen or something new that I try and it works..its such an amazing feeling when you discover who you are and the path you are on is the right one...=)

I got a binder and made my own cover for it. I have a couple things to go in it already and you guys gave me even more. I'm in the process of doing the training for a year and a day. I'm almost through my first week and I already have so much information. This is so exciting and feels so right.

Yes thats the way it should feel. I know I'll be at work or at the store & go I should put this in my bos & I think about all day until I get the chance. Its like my little buddy
