I'm sure I'm not the only one who's been told strange or crazy things about my path. I remember once when I was studying Wicca with a friend, I found a great essay about the Four Royal Stars (Aldebaran, Regulus, Antares and Formalhaut) and a watchtower call using them. I was so excited about being able to find these stars in the sky when my friend said, "You know it's not literal, don't you?"

I never did figure that one out...

I also once had a teacher who insisted I never, never, never draw energy from the sun because it was poisonous, as in "it will make you sick and you will die!" If I needed that kind of energy, I was to draw it from the moon. It was supposed to filter the sun's energy and reflect only one seventh of it back to earth. Needless to say, I gleefully risked death and I'm still here...as far as I know, anyway.

What crazy things have you heard?

"I need to teach you sex magic, so you can understand your bisexuality," is probably the craziest line I ever heard regarding magic.

But you know there are a million different ideas of what magic is about, and everyone believes they have the right combo pack.

I remember going to a gathering and there were a few hundred women there, very interesting group, and was just doing my thing and this old crone came up to me and said she had to speak with me. I was with a friend but obliged her because she was so adamant. She was all about telling me about a certain past life she felt I had. I scoffed and said, "I find it very interesting that everyone is always someone famous in a past life- nobody is a joe schmo nobody." She got very angry with me, and I'm paraphrasing the convo, but she basically was aghast that I didn't believe her- how dare I not! And to cap things off I simply said, "well it's just that I know like five other people who claim to be reincarnated Joan of Arc". LOL

Please...don't try this kids..definitely not a good way to wins friends and influence people.

LOL Jayne! I'm with you - everyone seems to have been either Joan of Arc or Cleopatra in a past life.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the guy who bragged to me once about how he channeled the living. He never got around to telling me how, though.

Channelling the living is one of those darkside talents, it means you walk-in to a compromised human and redirect their activities. This is what demons do, they pick compromised individuals. A compromised soul is one that has been damaged through drugs, alcohol even madness so that when they are in an enebriated state, or are having a psychotic episode they "walk- in" and inhabit their shell, their body. AKA possession, invocation. This is the type of magic (invocation) that Crowley got damaged by and was never the same after, at least from my perspective. I have known other practitioners who allow certain "powers" through invocation and again, their time is short-lived, and often they have dramatic ends to their existence. Not the kind of magick you want to fool around with. There is no free lunch when it comes to magick/energy manipulations.

Will the people I was study with thought it was just like the craft pretty much. We each where one. Now I believe u may feel connect to a element more than the others. But I tell ya the stuff got crazy. Seem like everyone could see the future & some one was killing someone or some one got great power. Tell ya young minds can go anywhere but I'm great full it helped me get to the true path tho.

Thanks for that info, Jayne. You know, after what I later found out about this guy and his friends, it wouldn't surprise me in the least this was what he meant. At the time, with the way the guy loved to brag, for all I knew it meant he knew how to dial the phone.

I've run cross people like this too, Windora. Unfortunately, one of them was later diagnosed as schizophrenic. It certainly gave me reason to look at my own self and such. I have to admit though, he certainly knew how to liven up a boring day when we'd have impromptu energy ball wars. :::SPLAT!!!:::
