    Default Psychic family ties ?

Is being a psychic something that is passed on through family members ? I have two great-great aunts who lived in the 1800s that were very gifted one of whom i feel a strong tie to my aunt ella belle phillips. I also have gifted relatives of celtic decent.

Blessed Be, Zoey! I believed your question was about psychic family ties? I'm psychic, so is my mom, my grandmom, and my great-grandmom as well. There are others in our family who are psychic, too. I hope this helps you out.

I think everyone has some psychic abiliites, some are more "open" than others. Children often seem very open and have psychic/paranormal experiences because they haven't been told yet for years that there's no such thing or that such experiences or bad. In addition to having your own psychic gifts you may be more open than some folks because you've apparently grown up in a family culture that acknowledges such gifts.

These ladies have given you some good information. My opinion is slightly different and is just that an opinion. Just like everyone else ideas about esoteric subjects can not be proven and so you need to review different viewpoints and decide for yourself what works best for your mindset.

I like to think of it this way, all of us have varying levels of ability in our various facets that make us up. For example, with intelligence some people are the not the sharpest tool in the tool box while others are genius- just a scale. In athletics some people can barely walk and chew gum and others are olympic athletes- again a scale. But every olympic athlete is good probably at one sport, one type of event. While every genius also may have extreme mental capabilities at one subject such as math for example. So why should it be any different with our psychic abilities? I think people have psychic abilities of different types in varying proportions. So one person may be extremely adept at clairvoyance, or telekinesis, or astral travel, or whatever their special talent might be, and potentially have other abilities at varying concentrations. But everyone has them, male or female, in some quantity.

I also think that your ability is passed down maternally, through hereditary/DNA, and not only what type of ability you might have at a higher aptitude, but that you have them in a concentration that you even recognize you have them. Since science does not even admit that these types of brainwave abilities exist there is no proof of this matrilineal XX-chromosome hereditary trait. And this is not saying that males don't also receive some ability from their line, but I think it is like the rest of genotypic expression in terms of recessive vs dominant alleles and how they form the individual's phenotypic expression. So males receive these gifts but probably not as much as a female sibling is naturally gifted within the same family. I am basing this on my observation that most of the folklore all over the world is about a predominance of female witches/ shamans/ curanderas whatever you want to call them. In fact, the first priestesses were also women all over the world which is why a largely female Goddess spirituality were the original indigenous religions. I think that is because females are more predisposed to having/using their naturally augmented talents than males, and their ease and ability made them naturally predisposed to being the priestess. So if the folklore is correct, women express these abilities more capably than their male counterparts. Even in modern day shamanistic traditions the role of being female (ie having a womb) is paramount and men have to artificially induce this by entering into caves, getting in touch with their female side, etc., as a key point in shamanism in order to boost their own power. This would not be necessary if there was an equal initial power base for both genders. I can also see it in my own family with regard to siblings as well as cousins who display psychic abilities where a disproportionate number of females have some type of ability and the males do not. I'm sure others probably also observe this in their own families, as I have also have friends who have remarked about this. But who knows, maybe it is just an extension of our culture that men are discouraged from expressing their abilities because they are considered so female in nature (ie. intuition). Who can really say.

I don't believe in the notion that you only attract people with the same type of emotional auric bioelectric pattern as yourself either. Otherwise opposites would never attract, which we know from love. And I know that it is a popular New Age theme that has gained in popularity with "The SEcret" and other similar books, but that philosophy seems to me to not reflect the wide variety of people that are attracted to every individual.

I think that when you are an empath you do tend to pick up people's emotional fields who you have constant contact with, or that have very strong projecting fields due to strong emotional problems such as anger, fear, hate, etc. It is very hard to shield yourself against these types, in my experience, because their very nature is a form of psychic vampirism. I think that you personally can attract good vibrations to yourself through your activities and thought processes, but that who you meet on the street is largely up in the air and out of your control. Who you choose to spend your time with, however, is something you can control through your thoughts and activities, which again removes the "attraction" principle out of the picture.

A good read for you that I would suggest is "Mastery of Awareness" by Vigil. This book explains what I think is a better system of thinking how your personal bioelectric sphere influences yourself and your surroundings.

I strongly suspect that my grandfather was more than just a simple water witch. I think he had more going on than he let the family know about. Unfortunately, I can't ask him as he has been dead since I was 6.

Icetalon, I feel you pain. My father passed on an incantation to my sister that he received from his mother. My sister and I wonder what else was lost with either our grandmother or father with thier deaths. All the more incentive for me to keep a written record of my journey to pass on to my daughter (she's not open yet).

I miss him, but I know that with the way that things ended, he is better off where he is now.(that was three strokes and a heart attack.) I just wish that I knew more about him, is all.
