I agree Kat!!! More important issues need to be covered! I feel the media is just fueling the war crisis more, just seems fitting to get people all fired up more, seeking better ratings also![wink] [nonsense]

Re: Mel Gibson.........
Oh yeah, I could care less about what Mel Gibson thinks about Jews, who Paris is screwing this week, what TomKat is doing or what animal is guarding Ben and Angelina.
I would like to turn on the news and actually here a good report about NEWS ... not what should be on Entertainment Tonight. As if Mel is the only person to be drunk at that specific time .. he just got caught and everyone knows his name. Big woop!

Re: Mel Gibson.........
Aside from everything else stated here..which is all valid..Isn't he intitled to say what he thinks? Just because he's famous, he's condemned for saying what many are already saying, and have been saying for years.
I'm in no way condoning what he said, I think it's terribly racist..but whatever happened to freedom of speech? Isn't that a freedom that America boasts?

Re: Mel Gibson.........
Also, I can't help but wonder if a lot of this is due to his entire change of heart because of his recent revival movie The Passion. I am not really for or against what he states, but in some people's minds it may seem hypocritical due to his new revelations. I am strongly against drinking due to how much chaos it sets in my life, but sometimes a drunk person just digs him/ herself a bigger hole than they can get out of.
Finally, I guess I just haven't been paying attention to any of the artists lately because if the shoes were on my feet, I would hate to have everyone in the world nitpick what I like to do. It will be really interesting to find out what has really happened though.

the thing that bugs me about this is that if he did say these things he is a jerk when he is drunk, if he truly believes these things he is a jackass sober but why on earth is there so much press about it and why is he being condemned with out a trial? We have sports figures who rape young girls while high on drugs and the press is all about what a slut the victim is but heaven forbid you get drunk and make a comment about a religious group. (this is in NO WAY condoning the DUI
, I have VERY strong feelings about that)
That's a very good point, Kat. But the problem is partly that athletes (especially) are seen as "playas". It's a really bad stereotype. But society kind of half-expects certain things from certain people. And society loves scandal and it loves to tear people who have good reputations down...they like to see people fall. Why else to we build pedastals that are ridiculously high and perch stars on top to then chip away and the foundation of the pedastel until that unfortunate star comes crashing down?
Mel Gibson had a reputation for being devout and a family man, and people would jump at anything to put a hole in that outfit. I know that things ALWAYS get blown out of proportion. Until someone hands me a video tape of the incident so that I can hear for myself what was said and what wasn't said, I'll take all comments with a pinch of salt and say a pray for Mel and his family. If he does have a drinking problem, I know how devastating those are, I've got a few alcoholics in my family and my grandfather died of alcoholism, and I pray that Mel gets the help he needs.

Absolutely!! I've made many in my life and we all do. I just hope he gets the help he admits he need and can go back to his family. What he said is being blown up for what ever reason, in the long run his family suffers.Evil Bunny wrote:

I agree with Althaea, on top of that try having him relax and meditate before bed. If it helps have him keep a journal near by and record the instances as best as he can. But, definitely go through a...
