Re: Age Restrictions At Cauldron Living
I think that is a perfect solution to the problem Icey_Vale and Fate. Ignore him, not the problem, which should be recored to submit to Cauldron Living. I did not start this whole thread because of Shadow13 though. I started it to start a conversation. Is there perhaps some issues you guys would feel more comfortable discussing among adults?

Sometimes though a younger opinioin is needed and age restricted threads can hinder more than help. Just like the others are saying, don't punish all of us just to get at one of us.

I'm under 18! I turn 17 on August 16th! *dances*Evil Bunny wrote:
Surely all here do know the secret way to telling ages, don't you??? Come on people pull together & just think a moment...In due time with no special powers (lol) I will be able to tell you whos under 18, almost to the T.
While I believe that there are some topics that younger people (myself included) should not get into, I do not believ that we should have age restrictions on CL. Often, it's the younger people who need the most guidance. And where better to come than here with all you fun and knowledgable ladies and gents?
Also another factor is maturity. Some of the most irrisponsible people I know are quite a bit older, and some of the most mature and responsible people I know are very young.
I don't think it's fair to exclude people because of their age and I hope that Sonya keeps things the way they are and just bans the people who are not cooperating with the resonable requests of their peers and the Cauldron Living staff.

Re: Age Restrictions At Cauldron Living
I don't believe the topic being discussed should be about punishing anyone. What do you guys think about three areas to CL?
1. Adults only...all topics. Requires age verification of some sorts.
2. Mixed ages...all topics except those most parents would find offensive to children. Requires no age verification.
3. Youngsters only...topics for the younger crowd excluding those most parents would find offensive. This would be monitored closely by CL. Only parents would be allowed to grant access to this forum through age verification.
Again not to say it will happen or to say that it should even happen. I'm just trying to keep the thought process rolling here.

Re: Age Restrictions At Cauldron Living
Or..... how about we keep the site Open to all, and when there is a problem, the Offender is Blocked from CL??
The reason I say this is that when I was (much) younger, I had a couple of very special people who took time to teach me. I would not be the person I am today if they had just said "Your too Young" to understand.

Ahhhh a new topic I see emerging. [wink] What things in regards to the various Pagan paths do you think should not be discussed with those under a certain age, if any?

That is quite simple ....
Things that are against the law in any prospective when it comes to conversing with a minor ... like ummm,
Flying solo!

Re: Age Restrictions At Cauldron Living
Greetings all..just wanna say, turned 19 last month..phew, made it!!
Seriously now, I think the only solution (however sad it is) is to block the offenders. We obviously have a repeat offender on our hands at the moment. Give them a chance and if they misstep again, that's it. People here don't deserve nasty comments when asking advice for something as personal and intimate as dreams..In the spirit of fun or not.
However, like it was said before, those people can easily jump back on and slap in a new name and set of details and they're at it again [rolleyes].
It's a tricky one..perhaps we could come up with a set phrase that indicates our displeasure in their lack of taste and then ignoring them..they'll soon get bored and find somone else to terrorise.
I also agree with Tommy's idea..it's a good one. That way there can be NO MISTAKES! about where people are wanted

Re: Age Restrictions At Cauldron Living
I troll as well, and I didn't realize what was going on until I read the latest on this thread.
I thought it was because of the "Flying Solo" incident.
It was also surprising to find out more about the aggravation on the name change and the age change.
This is a tricky and sticky situation. I will go along with what ever CL admin decides.
I personally love this forum, and hate to see such negativity, but as with any village, there is always going to be issues to attend to, and agree with the banning of certain members, maybe a 3 strike rule. There are ways of blocking certain ports, or addresses if need be, so that member cannot rejoin with out the knowledge of a hacker. I have no clue as to how that works, and it may only work on certain types of security programs. So that may not be an option.
Again I leave it in the hands of Admin.

Re: Age Restrictions At Cauldron Living
I have a 13 year old daughter who has a sign on on this site. Â*I police her myself. Â*There are certain subjects I do not want her reading about!!!! Â*Maybe I am overprotective, but I will not allow her to have a My Space, and I will not allow her to be online period without supervision!! Â*She is "only" 13. Â*Now don't get me wrong, she is a great kid, and has valid questions and answers, but We have a great relationship, and If she wants to discuss more "personal" things she comes to me directly, not asking questions or looking for answers on line. Â*sorry, but It bothers me that "some" children seem to have free reign with out anyone thinking about the consequences. Â*[confused]
