I agree with you on this.... I would hate to loose good people over the actions of ONE.JuniperDusk wrote:
Nope, why punish the class because the class clown can't keep his mouth shut?!
If it came down to it though, yes I'd go for the age restrictions, but we sure would loose a lot of little gems because of it.

Re: Age Restrictions At Cauldron Living
Honestly, I'm not sure where I stand on the age restriction issue.
There is a rule here against posting anything too explicit or graphic, or offensive, and anything like that which has been posted in the past (nudie pictures, hateful comments) has been promptly removed, thanks to the staff here at CL. So I'm not exactly sure what we'd be protecting the minors from.
If it's the magickal advice and instruction, well, they can trot into any bookstore and learn even more than they're picking up here. I've seen The Satanist's Bible at Barnes & Noble. I've never seen that kind of thing here.
I can't help but feel that this is an issue that needs to be addressed by the individual's parents. That's why Internet Service Providers have several different Parental Control options. My sister couldn't even view this site until I lifted the ban personally. If a parent does not block this site from their teenager's eyes, who are we to do it for them?
I also share the concerns of many here; anyone can lie about their age. And to put it plainly, we've already seen the hard and fast evidence of this. What's to stop Shadow7/13thShadow/any of the other kids, from terminating their membership, and logging on again with a different name, profile, and manufactured birthdate? As for Mamma_Willowe's suggestion, it's something to think about, but not everyone has a credit card, whether they are 18 or not.
One of the things I really like about this site is that it is open to younger seekers. I would hate for those like Adhamh, and my sister (crystalwaters15), to have to miss out. So if it came down to it, I'd have to vote no, but essentially, I do agree with Tommy (bbg_1980) that in the end, it's up to the admisitrators, and I'll comply with their wishes.

That was a very nice POV Artemis_NYC. This is why I feel those little magnetic strips on the back of everyone's driver's lincese should serve a purpose.

Yes, like I said, I'm not really sure where I stand. Also, I just read the fallout resulting from the dream interpretation thread, and the self-gratificatiom business, and I just don't know what to think. Honestly, I think the issue should be geared more towards banning the bad apple, rather than the bunch it spoils. But then again, I've been thinking that way for several months now, ever since the first hateful comments posted in the GLBTQ forum.

Re: Age Restrictions At Cauldron Living
I have thought long and hard about jumping in here.....I do not feel an age restriction is the answer. We have so many great young people It would be sad to loose them over this.
When we see a problem person on this site who is obviously begging for attention by being negative/disrespectful ...why do so many of us give him/her what they want?
I believe this person is reading even this forum and laughing at the reaction that was created. We have people saying they dont like to post anymore, others calling for a ban on age, and the anger (wow).
It must please him/her! I have a vision of him/her drinking it in, relishing the taste of discontent.
Why feed the beast?

Re: Age Restrictions At Cauldron Living
Shadow had 19 on his Profile...then he changed it to 13....I think the problem is right in front of us! I do not see any other young people creating problems....most of them respect us! and do not really care to join us! and when they do they are fun! NOT nasty! I have told him over and over and over and over and he is just too immature!
I agree with Icey....IGNORE him! [rolleyes]

Well, you are right with just ignoring, however, even with my own kid I let his smart remarks go every so often ... but then ... he goes too far and I put him back in his place. That's the thing about being a kid ... they don't know when to stop!

I agree with Althaea, on top of that try having him relax and meditate before bed. If it helps have him keep a journal near by and record the instances as best as he can. But, definitely go through a...
