I still have my Bible. I find that there are words of wisdom in all beliefs. And I also believe that "Knowledge is Power"..., and knowing is key to understanding.

A book in itself, is only a book, all you can do is take what you wish, and discard the rest.[grin]

I keep my Bible because it was given to me as a gift by my parents a long time ago. As such, it has sentimental value for me.

I have a bible.. a blue one that belonged to my grandmother. And at one point in my life it was important to me and gave me comfort.

While I have gone a different direction,It still gives me sentimental memories,so it is still travelling the world with me like it has for 30 years.

I agree with Tommy. I don't have any items of a Christian nature (or any other religion other than Wicca for that matter) in my sacred space either.

The books that I mentioned that I have are in my bookcase, which is totally separate from my altar area.

I missed this earlier, and I must say this is very true for me too. I have my bibles on a bookshelf in a different room from my sacred space.

Yeah, my Bible is in my bookcase, which is in a separate area from my altar and sacred space.

Bibles are excellent for pressing flowers to be dried and used in Pagan rituals!

All kidding aside, I keep mine because like many others here, it was a gift from my Godmother, who only had the best intentions. It's also an excellent version, because it has the original translations, and not the later perversions of those in power seeking to tweak the phrasing for their own purposes. I keep it mainly for reference, and I can't help but view it as a weapon of sorts. Every once in a while, some Bible thumper will spout off about homosexuality/Paganism/the proof that Christianity is the True, Right, and Only Way/some insignificant detail about Jesus' life/ etc., and I can just pull out my Bible and fight fire with fire.

It sits on a shelf with other books debunking the Bible, as well as texts central to other faith systems, like many others here. It doesn't bother me that this shelf sits right outside my Circle, but that is a personal choice.

I can only echo what has been said by others here; if you feel you truly have no use for it, and no emotional attachment to it, donate it or give it away. Ironically enough, the Bible is the most stolen and shoplifted book in the world, a statistic I have always found hilarious.

Good advice. I have my bibles too. They were gifts from my parents and grandparents. They are also full of historical references. I keep them just as I would any other book for those two reasons.
