Default Christian Missionaries Visiting Work Today!

Yes, I was shocked. There's a Christian ministry outfit called The Navigators who are looking into purchasing our software. The email announcing our visitors didn't mention it, but when I clicked on the "company" website - like I said, it was a surprise.

I have a gargoyle desk set that got misplaced in a move. Likewise for the gargoyle monitor topper I've got somewhere. To quote Blackadder III, "Fortune vomits on my eiderdown once again."

Oh well, at least the website for The Da Vinci Code film has wallpapers to download. I think the one of Silas looks great. And I got in early, so I got a plum parking spot for my car with the Blessed Be bumper sticker.

I wonder if they'll notice my pentacle ring when the marketing folks show them around the office?

    Stickin' it to the man,

If you really want to make an impression, I highly recommend stamping a pentacle to the very top of your forehead. You'll be the bell of the ball

    Just kidding...of course

    [grin] Heh

I did send an email to the marketing guy saying "I guess I'll hold off on getting that 666 tattoo on my forehead. By the way, do they have any plans afterwards? Maybe you can take them to the movies. How about that new Tom Hanks film?"

He replied back "I was thinking about taking them to Fantasies for lunch, but I may have to go with Plan B."

You might think Fantasies is a good name for a strip joint. You would be right. [evil] Nice to see Marketing has a sense of humor.

Fortunately, it was a quiet day. But here's the funny thing. When I got into the office, it was a bit before 9:00 - before most people got there, including the bigwigs. As I was walking to the door, these 3 guys were walking in behind me lugging some briefcases and one of those things that looks like a small suitcase on wheels. We're not the only office in the building, so I didn't think anything of it. Besides, they were too early for any meeting with us.

I held the doors open for them, my ring was about eye-level at one of them. He didn't seem to look at it, rather he was staring at me and had this weird glazed look in his eyes. He smiled and said thank you, but more like the way a grown-up would say to a toddler who had just picked up something off the floor and gave it to him.

The freak show had arrived, and they saw me get out of my car as well. Fortunately, they stayed until well into the afternoon, so I didn't scare them off. But when the marketing guy showed them around, I noticed they stood as far away from my desk as possible when they were near me.

    What? I showered! [lol]

I had a van load of Jehovah’s Witnesses come thru the neighborhood; they caught me tending flowers. We chatted for a bit…. Then, they whipped out their pamphlets. We talked Scripture – they were Smiling, man, just happy to be there. The leader told me he was quite happy with my knowledge of the Big Book, and asked “What’s Your Denomination”??? I answered “I am a Witch”. Massive Exodus… the group Runs for the Van….my neighbors, who had been watching, came out asking if I had been Naughty again……. I just hope they don’t decide to take on My Salvation as a group project, or, worse yet…….come back with a stake and firewood.

i hope we don't think that it's us against them. personally, i think it's very wrong to shock or upset people who don't believe as i do. perhaps that is something that they like to do. perhaps they are afraid or are not tolerant. i think that's a very sad way to be. i do not think that being the same way towards them is the solution. perhaps, just maybe, we could be respectful of those who are not respectful of others. perhaps we could be us and not them.
    just a thought.

oh, i was very nice to them, but, he asked me a direct question; it would have been wrong to lie. I am very respectful of other people, certainly where it comes to religeon. Is it wrong to expect the same consideration?? Religeous Freedom is for everyone.

i don't know. i think that expecting to be treated in a respectful manner (instead of like you just grew horns) is VERY right. I expect to be treated with the same respect i give everyone. now, if i'm a witch witha B all the time, then i don't deserve that respect. but to say "i will be nice to everyone, even when they're being wretched to me" just goes against the grain to me. i guess i just don't have that "turn the other cheek" mentality. if someone is being mean, or snotty, etc. to me, yeah, i'll try to ignore it at first (everyone has their moments). but if its a constant thing, don't expect me to take it lying down. martyrdom isn't my thing.
as far as wigging out the xtians, maybe its petty, but hey...its fun! i don't think there's anything wrong with giving the close minded a little goose now and then.

but then this is all my *opinion* so take it or leave it.
