I personally dont see anything wrong with being assertive with someone who tries to shove there view down your throat and I dont feel that bashing anyone for there preference on religion is good ....however when they will not take "no thank you" for an answer and tell me I am going to hell on my own yard or porch... well the gloves come off........no "fluffy" here.

i don't believe i said anything about any *actions* being wrong. i am not qualified to judge anyone else. i am not sorry for *not* wanting to fight or feel angst towards those who do not believe as i do. it is part of their belief to try and "save" others. i am no better than anyone else. therefore, i will not begrudge them their beliefs. i do not feel feisty. and i do not believe that thinking negative thoughts towards others is productive.
i will not state that this is my humble opinon because it appears to bring out sarcasm in others on this forum.

I can relate to you. I work in the hotel/hospitality industry here in Anderson, Indiana which happens to be the home of the annual Church of God Convention---YIKES! This will occur starting next weekend and continue for one week and it will mean that the hotel I work at will be all filled up. Also, all the neighboring hotels will be filled up as well. I am just hoping none of these Church of God people try to preach to me. I am honest about my beliefs but I am not an in-your-face type either. I believe in religious tolerance and acceptance for everyone. I tend to get a mite testy when Christians start to preach to me and try to convert me. When I feel myself getting aggravated, I try to just walk away. I have to admit that it gets hard sometimes, though! SIGH!

Yep I agree with you Phoenix, Icey is a great person, very wise and super dee dooper nice ( sorry I sound like Barney), but she truely is! and I had had my encounters with mormons (being an ex mormon myself), my sister and her husband are bound to get our souls (my mom is a Witch too) to the Lord.

I may be wrong, but do I sense a tone of sarcasm in this post? Not hearing each other's voices and only having the written word to go on, sometimes people don't realize how they can come across at times to others. If you feel that others are misunderstanding your intentions or words, perhaps your words, unknowingly to you, come across that way.

i live in new york(long island)where there is really a great deal of tolerance. perhaps i just don't experience what the rest of you do in the form of negativity directed towards pagans or really any other group. my intention is never ever to upset anyone. yeah...i guess i'm just rather passive, but then, as i've said, i really have never had people be overly rude or pushy towards me about anything. my daughter is lesbian and i'm pagan, divorced twice and dating a latino. my best friends are catholic, muslim, jehovah's witness,and jewish.they are black and white and tan. they are gay and not gay. we share and learn a lot from each other all in an atmosphere of love and acceptance. i am, i am learning, very lucky to not have to contend with the vast amount of intolerance that it appears a lot of you do.
thank you for your kind words and for understanding that my views are a bit different. i would never say that someone else is wrong. i strongly believe that no one is better than anyone else. therefore, i could never be qualified to tell someone else that he/she is wrong. i was simply throwing out my opinion to see what people think about it. i emphasized that it is only my (very humble)opinion because i didn't want anyone to think that i was trying to say that someone else is wrong.
