Warning: Dog Collars
Be careful of your dogs collar for it can tangle with crates trees cars, and even other dogs resulting in the painful strangleing of your pet. To aviod this buy harnesses or an reasy release collar that just clicks off. I resently lost my dog this way and thought it would be unkind not to pass this warning. Blessed Be

Re: Warning: Dog Collars
Yep that is true all my cat have click away collars. plus when I am away at work I wrap up the blind cords up high I figure that if a human child can be hurt that way so can your pets! Safety for your child and for your furry friends!

Re: Warning: Dog Collars
Nightstorm, I'm so sorry for your recent loss of your dog.
I lost a cat back in 1990 who wore a regular collar and got it caught in small holes in the pattern on a metal patio table when it was alone outside. The end result is that the cat evidently struggled to get free and in the process fell off the table and was hung and strangled by the collar. For as long as I live, I'll never forget the horror of coming home and discovering him hanging there.
So, I heartily agree with you that the only collars used on animals like cats and dogs should be of the "break-away" type.

Oh, that is horrible. I'm so sorry. My dogs were playing as they usualy do and my golden retriever's teeth got caught in my german shepherd's collar and they were rollin around so it twisted a few times around GR's lower jaw and trapped her tounge(cutting it a little) and my buddy got strangled b4 i could cut his collar off [cry]. he was a great spirit though he would bring all sorts of animals home he had a pet raven, bunny, and a baby vulcher but he never hurt them, loved to chase the cats though lol

Re: Warning: Dog Collars
I'm Sorry 2 both of u. I know my pets r like family or humans, it hurts so bad when they pass. my dog had that prob with collars he was a really strongh dog he was a mix of watt & boxer & we have 2 keep r dogs chain up cause some people around here would shot them if their in their yard. Plus he look mean but a big puppy & he still was when he past. But anyways he broke all the other collars & the only one that didn't start cutting open his skin so we got him a cage & some flu or something got him before we could get him 2 the vet. IT really sucks when u lose a pet

I agree with Althaea, on top of that try having him relax and meditate before bed. If it helps have him keep a journal near by and record the instances as best as he can. But, definitely go through a...
