    Default Spiral Scouts

    www.spiralscouts.org

Is anyone a member? I just signed up for this, as did a friend in California. Its a non-profit group like Girl Scouts/Boy Scouts but for pagan or earth-based paths. Anyone can sign up to join and there are Circles (musth ave a male and female leader) or HEarths (can be just 1-2 families or households who do activities independelty because there is no circle nearby).

We signed up as a Hearth group, haven't gotten accepted yet or recieved any information. They have badges and uniforms just like Girl or Boy Scouts. I am so looking forward to it because we joined Girl Scouts and were very disappointed in the leader. She did NO activities withe the girls and they learned NO skills.

Would love some feedback on others who have joined this.

My kids were grown up (and having kids of their own) by the time Spiral Scouts started back around 2000-2001, so I've never personally been involved with them. I do have a few online acquaintances who are involved with Spiral Scouts with their own children though. From what I've heard, they're a wonderful organization.

The only complaint I've heard about them is lack of participation and/or lack of activities. But, just like in regular scouting, how good a troop is depends greatly on how motivated the leaders of it are. When my daughter was young, I have very active in Girl Scouts, and was a troop leader for Daisy Scouts and later Junior Girl Scouts, as well as a Troop Organizer and on the Service Team for the local council where I used to live. I guess my point in my rambling is to be prepared to participate and help out in your children's group if you want it to be a meaningful, fun, and successful experience for them.

Thanks! There is actually no circle where I live so we're a hearth (just 1 family) so it will be only me and my girls involved. I plan on being very active and maybe someday we can get a circle formed. I really don't feel like I have time to be a leader of a circle though, but I might change my mind later. I know of a few parents who might want their kids to sign up.

I looked into it a couple of years ago. I was very excited about it, but never signed up due to the time commitment thingy. [frown]

I am also interested in this for my kiddies. The concept is so wonderful. I looked into it a few years back to do an article on it, but couldn't get a response from the 'top'. If anyone runs into them.... send them my way as I would love to help get the word to other interested families.

PS...I just checked out their website and it looks alot more pulled together so I will try once again to get this done!

Wish they'd had this when my kids were small.
