I want a fish with a witch hat too!! Anybody know where they can be purchased? I'm not ashamed of my faith, but I don't want people to ask me questions yet. I am so new and inexperienced, I don't want to make Pagans look bad by being unknowledgable (is that a word?). Once I do have more knowledge I will be much more open. The only Pagan jewelry I wear right now is a toe ring during sandal weather and a triple moon charm on my Italian charm bracelet. My mom asked me what it was and I said matter-of-factly "It's a goddess symbol" and she got really uncomfortable. She's convinced I've joined a cult. *sigh* But I suppose that's a topic for a different forum.
srmaeg - i just wanted to say that im totally w/ u on not wanting to show my religion yet until im more knowledgeable! ---i dont really want to advertise my 'religion' b/c i haven't really decided anything and i think 'religion' is a VERY personal thing and i dont think it is really anybody else's business! unless of course it is people like on this forum who are helping guide me on my journey! --- that being said - i have an italian charm bracelet also (i love it!) where did u get the Goddess charm i would LOVE to add one to my bracelet --- right now i have: a dolphin, drama masks, movie clapboard, moon w/ stars, yin yang, frog, chinese symbol for harmony, i (heart) sturgis, and scrapbooking!
instg8r: I got my triple moon Italian charm from ebay. Just look up "Italian Charm Wicca" and there are a lot of them. Like you, I also have a dolphin, moon w/ stars, and yin yang! What a funny coincidence. (I also have a smily face, Elton John, my daughter's name, my husband's name, and some Ace ones)
I have Â*its your hell you burn there and one that says Â*My karma just ran over your dogma Â*and last one is Â*Im only driving this cause the kids keep falling off my broom . No one has ever said a word about them to me.
I think this topic is great! I have sat here and laughed like I havent in a long time, You see, I have 4 sons, one who is very gifted, BUT, we live in a small town in the south, and we are a "broom closet" family, I would love to put a bumper sticker on my car and just sit back and enjoy! I think some of my boys would eat it up, while the others would prefer to walk, lol... So, Cheers to those of you who do have stickers![wink]
I don't have any bumper stickers, but there's a parent who attends my son's band events who has one, and it always makes me feel better to know that he's not the only kid out there being raised in a pagan household. Â*And that if he were to be mistreated because of his or our beliefs that maybe there would be someone who would stand up for him in my absence.
Even though I don't have any bumper stickers, I do wear pagan jewelry rings that have an Eye of Horus, another with an Ankh, and my husband has earrings that are more Goth or tribal. Â*If anything, we get ‘teased’ as the ‘hippie’ parents by our son’s friends.
But, I don't know who the other Pagan parents are, only that they exist because of the bumper sticker on the car... It makes me wonder if I shouldn't put one on my car as a statement of unity for them and others.
But, living in a small town in the south has prevented me from doing so, I can speak my mind face to face when asked about my choices in jewelry, but I fear the faceless judgments, I fear the red - necks in pick-ups who proudly display hunting guns, and who would not approach me as a person, but would have no qualms at following too close, pointing bright headlights into my car and endangering myself or my family... hiding behind those bright lights in there own misguided cowardice.
I hang a pentagram on my front door, right next to my American flag, and I shop at my local 'magic / book' store, but most of my pagan friends are from the nearest large metropolitan area...
I've heard the ignorance of some of my neighbors to loudly to trust them with my family’s safety.
So, it has to be a personal choice on how you proclaim you beliefs, just as most of us would differ in someway in our beliefs, our expressions will differ also.
i am known by both my nickname as well as the fact that i am blunt with the fact that i am a witch and wiccan and proud of it...around here in virginia at least in the part of va were i live..no one even flinches anymore. i mean...i am a mom...of a 2 yr old witchlet.. and my nickname is actually my screenname and my car tags...i am known as dixiewitch....so on my jeep grand cherokee...it actually says ..dxi wtch...on the tags..and then i have the tattoo on my arm with dixiewitch on it...i were my jewelry and actually on my last car...i actually had a bumper sticker that said...wiccan clergy....and one that said..."don't meddle in the affairs of dragons..for you are crunchy and go good with milk" and i have always had a pentacle hanging from my mirror in my car.. and even though my son is only 2...i attend alot of sports activities for ex's children...who still consider me there mom figure..and they will look at anyone and say...hey she is a witch...isn't it cool...
i was even brought in for show in tell once...i was amazed...it was for a kindergarten class. but it was cool. so for me...it isn't odd or anything to have bumper stickers...actually i have been planning to get some window stickers to put on the jeep...since i don't want to mess up the bumper on it. and azure green has tons..
so i guess for me...the soccer mom with bumperstickers..is normal for me..i can't say that there still aren't people that see me. and roll there eyes...but for most parts i am known as dixiewitch...aka..the witch of the south.. and no one even notices anymore..
so my advise is.....and do some bumpersticker shopping...and display it proud...becuase the fact is..no matter what anyone in this world does in life...there is always gonna be someone who thinks its wrong. and the fact is..as long as your ok with it..then everyone else can just stay out your broom closet...
becuase something wiccan this way comes...and we come as blonds, redheads, fat skinny, no kids, and parents..so just be you...
