Re: Period trouble.
I just got off the phone with them and I did talk to a nurse. She told me to continue taking the pills the hospital gave me and there are no eariler appointments available. She told me that the pills will give me some relief in a day or so.

Re: Period trouble.
Fire_dancer, I"m so sorry to hear that this has been so rough on you and that you still have no answers.
Havethey checked for fibroids and endometriosis? Sometimes a woman can have little or no pain at all and still suffer from either of the two. The only real way for them to know if you do have either fibroids or endometriosis is to do an ultrsound, so if they haven't yet done one, ask them to do one and don't take no for an answer.
I am praying that you at least get som relief for Christmas, if not permanently.
Goddess speed!

Re: Period trouble.
Well I have been taking the pills like they said, which they are birth control pills that I take 3 times a day, and the bleeding has basically stopped. I should start to take the pills twice a day today.
My mom had fibroids and cysts so it is likely that I could as well. No woman in my family has reached the "normal" menopausal age without having a hysterectomy. My grandma had one when she was i think in her 30's and my mom as well. My grandma had 3 kids but the first one had water on the brain and died 2 weeks after being born, My mom had 3 pregnancies but only 2 kids, and my sister has had 3 pregnancies but only 2 kids. My family seems to have a history of this.
I have never had an ultrasound done but when I go to the clinic on Thursday I will let them know what is going on. Thank you all for the help.

Re: Period trouble.
I have been suffering with the same problem for many years. I have overian cysts and fibriods. I have also had 2 surgerys and tested for endimitriosious{sp} negative, and still suffer with funky periods. I have 3 beautiful children and was told after the 2nd that I would not be able to carry another full term. Well 2 years after the 2nd I didn't have a period but kept testing negative for pregnacy and when I had a blood test done found I was pregnant. I get extremely low on iron and for all my pregnacies I had to take a big amount of it. I hate taking the pills so I eat plenty of tuna, beats etc. that are rich in iron. My prenancies had different complications, but they came out ok. Being 29 now, I am getting worse and have been told by many doctors that I need a hystorectomy. That my problem is not life threating yet! But to agree with you I tired just about every form of BC to no avail. I came from a long line of women having these kind of complications. I did find out that when I was having a period every 2 weeks it was because I was miscarring and then having a period. Which can cause an infection if there are still remains and untreated. My grandmother almost died because she waited too long to go see a doctor and had an infection.

Re: Period trouble.
Oh wow. Lot of great info here. I'm 27 and have had docs tell me for years that my menstrual cycle will stabilize eventually (!?!?!?!) and the only treatment they offer is BC. Oh and I crave red meat (and strawberries - what a coincidence!) all the time but was never diagnosed as anemic. Wrote it off as being an O-.
I think it's time for a check up with some very pointed questions for my MD. Thanks for sharing MoonRise! You helped more than just yourself!

I agree with everything that has been said above. I don't want to scare you but I have always had troubles. I had very painful heavy and frequent two weekly periods and finally went to the doctor, It turned out I had a bad infection and the particular pill I had tried at the time did not agree with me.
The infection was treated and I had to go on the combined pill, also I was anaemic so I needed iron supplements. That was 15 years ago when I was 20. I am now 35 and still have some problems, however due to looking after my health and a good solid diet, they have improved.
I would make sure you eat well, with plenty of vegetables and fruit, and some good oils which are especially good for periods, especially primrose oil. I have taken this supplement in the past and want to research this a little more.
I can not stress enough about getting to see a doctor and having a check up to make sure that every thing is ok, and if you need treatment, the sooner the better. I often pay out of pocket for prescriptions. However in regards to insurance, I find that part difficult to know the ins and outs and how much as I live in England so of course I do not completely understand how difficult that may be, but i do sympathise.
I now have noticed that this post was a far few years ago lol. Oh dear, anyway I will post this to show how important this is
