I was wondering if anyone here knows much on cervical cancer? I am giong to have a biopsy on some pallups in my cerfix on friday and I am a bit terrified. I wont know until about a week after the bio, but my Aunt told me it is like being in labor, is this true?? Any insight is appreciated.
I can feel your worry! Â*I had a cervical biopsy done when I was 16 because of an abnormal PAP. Â*The procedure is short, but it doesn't tickle. Â*You will feel a sharp pain that lasts only a second when the biopsy is taken and then it will melt into a dull, throbbing pain. Â*Have a warm bath, tea and a heating pad waiting for you when you get home and clear your appointments for the rest of the day. Â*I wouldn't say the feeling is like labor pains, more like really, REALLY bad menstral cramps. Â*By the next day, you should feel MUCH better. Â*I'm here if you need me-I'll be thinking of you.
Thank you! That is some good advice, I was told that I would not be able to get around very well for at least 3 days. I never thought about tea or a heating pad. I have really bad menstrual cramps as it is so maybe it wont be that bad. You have given me some hope so I thank you again.
Anytime! My cramps are bad, too. Â*I usually lay in the fetal position for most of the first day. Â*The cramps seem to get worse as the years go on. Blessings to you and don't hesitate to call on me if you need some cheering up. Â*Here you go, this thing makes ME smile!

Thanks again for the support Butterfly!! I really need it. lol and Pagan Mumsy. I feel for you as well! I know that this is a very scary time for us both. I am glad that you get a anesthetic and I am sorry that needles bother you! I hope they give me one! I send you my energy and hope that it helps. You are wonderful people and I send my blessings!!!
I sympathize, I found out that I had stage 2 cervical cancer, back in 1991.
The biopsy is not 'comfortable' in fact for me it hurt, but if you have a caring doctor [like I have now] they can numb the area and you don't have to feel anything- I think because I was so tense and afraid, the pain lasted several days. Be good to yourself, make sure you have someone [you trust] go with you. I hava a favorite saying, and I love to do needlepoint- so while I was being tested- I was finished a mat that says: "This too shall pass". It helped me through, that and friends who came and stayed with me. I didn't take anyone with me, I wished that I had afterwards. It will be o.k., breath deep, prayers to the one whom you count on and know, this too shall pass. The surgery- lazer cone biopsy, I was asleep: Yeah! was a breeze. Promise.

Just thought i would put in my 2 cents. I too had cervical cancer several years ago, they did a biopsy (pinched the questionable area's) and it was painful but nothing extreme, more like monthly cramping, i guess it all depends on your threshold of pain. Then i had to have the area's frozen, that was very uncomfortable but it took care of the problem and i haven't had an issue since. I guess it also depends the extent to which the cancer has taken over and the type of cancer. I attribute my wellness to a great product that i discovered recently call Ocean Farmasea it is an amazing product made with Marine Phytoplankton and there is no other product on the market like it, it is packed with natural vitamins, mineral, enzymes and so much more. If your interested i can send you a flyer on it. The man who developed it was diagnosed with cancer and given 9 months to live, 8 years later he is healthy and happy.
I, too, have shared the 'joy' of experiencing type two cervical cancer, the biopsies, colposcopys, etc , and they were nowhere near the pain of childbirth. I did not have the luxery of pain killers or of being 'knocked out' ( as I was being treated by military Doc's), it felt kind of like really hard pinching and I had cramps for a few days...and a bit of dis...not to alarm you...and I don't know if this is true for everyone...but they had swabbed my cervix with a solution to make the cancer "show up" it burned a little...but that was the dis for those few days kind of like coffee grounds...I wouldn't have said this, but, it's what scared ME...and when I went in to the Doc they said it was 'normal'...in any case, if cervical cancer is caught in time it is one of the easiest to be cured from...I still have to see the GYN every three months, but one more test and that makes a year of 'normal' PAPs.....and I can go back onto a 'normal' routine...

PS...I got to watch my colposcopy and biopsies on TV...interesting[confused]
I want to thank all of you for your suggestions and support, it has been wonderful knowing I can get on here and talk to women that have been through what I am about to go through tomorrow. All of your suggestions have been wonderful and have helped me emotionally to be able to cope with this. Again I thank you all!!!!
