Default What Is Your Favorite Kind of Tea?

Merry Meet Everyone! Ashfire here again to pester you all with redundant questions and recipes that only work sometimes!

So my question today is What Is Your Favorite Kind of Tea and Why? I like to blend my own teas and my dream is to have an herb garden/flower garden where I can someday grow my own organic ingredients. I have several kinds that I like, but the one that I'm hooked on right now is mint and jasmine, which is very much like being kicked in the brain with an organic candy cane. It's better than caffeine and makes the house smell nice to boot.

    Blessed Be,

    A Very Hyper Ashfire

Oooo...my favorite subject! Â*All hail Lu Yu! [smile] Â*

In homemade herbal teas, I am fond of either lemonbalm or lemon verbena. Â*Lemonade without lemons! Â*Plus I guess I'm strange - the 'lemon Pledge' smell of lemonbalm amuses me. Â*[lol]

Right now I'm quite fond of Celestial Seasonings' True Blueberry. Â*I love it when you get to the bottom of the cup where all the loose bits have settled. Â*That's when you get the big burst of blueberry flavor.

Since I from the South, I was practically raised on plain old Orange Pekoe black tea. Â*It's still one of my favorites. Â*I've discovered a love for Assam and Oolong teas as well. Â* Â*

If I had to choose, my absolute favorite blend is called East Friesian. Â*I love the taste of it plus I have to laugh every time I drink it. Â*I didn't realize just how strong it was so the first time I proceeded to make it as if it were regular tea. Â*Turns out, I ended up making it at least double strength. Â*I got so wired I worried my mom when I saw her later that morning. Â*[lol] Â* Â*

I love loose leaf tea. My favorite for the past two years is a tea mix I buy from a loose leaf tea store called Teaopia Holiday Blend it has apple pieces, cinnamon, almond and bourbon vanilla bits. Mmmmmm so good.

I tried the lemonbalm from my garden this year..the pledge smell made me nauseated. I did have Lemon V. but it died because it didn't like the change from outside to inside.

Wow, I didn't realize that there was actually a tea saint! Can you get posters of Lu Yu, because I think I need one. [lol]

Oooo, walking spirit, that sounds great! Â*I wish I had a tea store nearby. Â*

I've found lemon verbena can be a little fussy. Â*Sometimes, I can keep it for a long while and others, it will up and die if I look at it wrong. Â*[lol]

Ashfire - I think I could use one too! Â*I've never found any, though. Â*I keep threatening to make a sculpture to Lu Yu but I haven't gotten around to it.

You know, as much as I love its apple-y smelling goodness in the garden, I have to admit I just cannot stand chamomile tea. Â*It smells and tastes too much like hay. Â*I love tea and I love the smell of hay but together - forget it! [lol]

(So does this mean I'll have to turn in both my pagan and tea lover club membership cards? [lol])

I hope not cause I am not a fan of chamomile either (though I even grow it). I have also read that people with Hay Fever should not drink it because it could have the same allergic effect on them as rag weed. Haven't experienced it myself though.

I reallllly like chamomile but I haven't been able to purchase it lately. How hard is it to grow and dry? I've heard that only the best-kept chamomile plants actually give good tea, so I'm a little apprehensive about trying my hand at it.

Green tea is my cure-all, with the exception of stomach aches for which I usually suggest peppermint or spearmint. Like right now, my husband has a cold and I told him to just drink some green tea to make him feel better. ;p

For a good pick-me-up when I feel upset or down, I usually go for jasmine. The smell and taste of it just transports me to a whole other world of happy-flowery-worry-free goodness.

Ashfire - I think I could use one too! I've never found any, though. I keep threatening to make a sculpture to Lu Yu but I haven't gotten around to it.
Hey, yeah, make me one too so I can have him guard over my jars of tea.

Well, mine flourished and I even managed to keep it for a few years...with loving and completely accidental neglect. Â*[lol] Â*I found a great spot at the edge of some beebalm, where it got full sun but was sheltered from the worst wind by it and bittersweet growing up an arch on the other side of it. Â*Somehow, I got it in my head it had died until I found it later that summer. Â*The next year, I even had a few seed to sprout. Â* Â* Â*
