sour cream pound cake
Hi all, this recipe is my Mom's; it is really good cake but slice it thin for the best flavor! Â*BB Raven
Sour Cream Poundcake
oven: 350 degrees...1hour and 20 minutes tube pan...
2 3/4 cups sugar
1/2 lb. butter
6 eggs, 3 cups Flour, 1/8 tsp baking powder, Â*1/8 tsp baking soda, 1/8 tsp salt, 1 cup sour cream, 1 tsp vanilla Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Prepare tube pan by cutting wax paper and tracing pan upside down., make hole and fit into bottom of the pan. Pour batter into pan, you do not have to grease and flour. Â* Combine sugar and butter and cream well. Â*Add eggs one at a time and beat well after each. Â*Combine dry ingredients, then add sour cream...mix thoroughly, then add vanilla and pour into pan. Â* Let bake for 1hour and 20 minutes. Â*Cake is done when a toothpick comes out clean. Â*remove from oven and let cool for 25 minutes... peel off wax paper flip onto plate, and prepare icing.. confectioner's sugar 1 1/2 cups, 1 tsp vanilla, and enough milk to make it creamy... 1/2 to 3/4s cups Â*drizzle on cake and serve in thin slices! Â*Enjoy![grin]

Re: sour cream pound cake
This sounds as fattening as the rumcake recipe my daughter gave me. Â*Everyone was fighting for the last pieces. Â*Then a quiet came upon the neighborhood....because nobody could move!!! Â* What da hey!!! Â*Ya only make it once a year. Â*I say try it out. Â*Live a little. Â*Sounds way too good not to.[tongue]

Re: sour cream pound cake
Sounds incredibly delicious, I think I will try this for my New Year's family get-together. We're having a sort of buffet so sounds like something the gang will like.
Although it sounds very fattening and after those 5 boxes of chocolates this season that are still settling on my hips... but hey... sugar was made tasty for a reason!
