    Default Starting out

OK, My friend just turned 18 and she's wanting to move out of her mother's house because of some issues involving her mother, and she's kinda having a hard time getting out on her own, is there anything I can do to help? Or is theere anything she can do to make the change easier? Thanks

There are Many things that need to be noted from a Financial standpoint...
proper use of credit cards, interest rates.... managing a checking account...buying a car...(or a house). It would be really helpful to have some basic Business Classes under your belt. [wink]

I'm a huge re-user/thrift store junkie. Â*Soooo many household items can be purchased there for little money. Â*That would be my advice. Â*Help her find a GoodWill or Salvation Army or whatever the store is in her area. Â*She will save money by purchasing used items! Â*As she gets herself more established she can replace things if she needs to or wants to, but thrift shopping is the best way to start a household quickly (on a limited budget).

I also agree that making sure she knows how to manage her money is key to success. Â*Once she gets out of her house, she doesn't want to have to go crawling back because she can't make it alone.

Good luck and keep us posted!

I am the voice of adversity right now.... if you run from something it will find you in someone else ~ example....whatever issue she is running from her mother for will show up in a landlady or a neighbor or someone at work ~ best bet is to learn the lesson from her mother (which she knows loves her) than a perfect stranger ~ [grin]

Being that I just turned 18 a few months ago, and have just completed my first semester at college, I couldn't imagine handling all the bills my parents do.

I know she might be going through hard times now; however, my advice would be to stay put until she has a good job, maybe part-time in school learning a skill or career, so she can start her life in the right direction.

    Hope that helps!
