    Default Candle wax on Carpets!

I have recently had to remove some candle wax from my carpet and the easiest way is to do this is to place a clean cloth over the wax and iron it. The cloth soaks up the warm wax leaving no residue behind!

It's wonderful and I thought I would share it.

Edain, I saw this and immediately started laughing! I got red wax on my carpet (from Imbolc) and tried the iron. It mostly came up.

I think the deeply colored candles would be hard to get up. Anyone tried an icecube? Kind of like cleaning up gum?

You can use brown paper bags to absorb the wax also. (I've been ironing wax out of carpet for almost 20 years now.)

I did this 2 years ago when my IDIOT cats knocked over an entire jar of dark red melted wax on a candle warmer. I hurriedly soaked up as much as I could, burning my hands and arms in the process. The next day I used the iron and some old towels to clean it up. It did leave behind a stain, but not bad at all. The best advice I could offer to anyone doing this is don't get the wax on the iron itself. I did several times and by the time I was done the house was so thick with smoke I could barely see or breathe!

Be sure you scrape off as much of the excess wax as you can before you apply the iron otherwise it just melts it all into the carpet.

I haven't tried this but.... i've heard if you take a cooking pan(after the wax has dried) and fill it with ice and place it on top of the wax wait for the wax to freeze then hit it with a hammer that most of the wax comes off.

What about altar cloths? I have a variety of beautiful altar cloths, ranging from velvet to cotton. I'm assuming this would work for them as well as carpets, but would I have to do anything differently? And what setting should I put the iron on?
