    Default The Shaman's Overlook

With a name like the Shaman's Overlook you know you are going to have a wild night. I have been to this location many times since a Native American woman turned me onto it when I was first starting my path. I'll tell you, every year the 2 hour hike up at nearly a 45 degree angle is getting harder! Going from sea level to about 3500 feet is probably why. This year I took my girlfriend and my dog, who looks like a silver wolf but is a big scaredey cat. Hahahahaha

It was a fairly uneventful hike up, save for my dog running into the haunted hotel and requiring me to retrieve him. We got there just at dusk. It is very pretty up there at suck because there are several mountains surrounding the overlook you look out from into the sunset filled clouds. It has become a popular spot over the years, so much so boy scouts and massive people come to visit. I have created an alternate camping location as a result, cleared for sacred work. Sure enough as we got there a group of boyscouts had already set up camp at the entrance.

We set up camp at my secret spot. Because of all of the rain the northeast has been having there was an incredible amount of bugs buzzing all around us. Mosquitos like choppers. I performed my ceremony to invoke protection for the night so that no evil might enter our campsite. And provided ceremonial elemental offerings. The night wind was already filling the air. A strong, cold wind that bellows up the mountain, hits the cliff and then roars through the trees. It makes your tent zippers constantly rattle. It causes the temperature to drop about 20 degrees and my gf was complaining about the cold- as well as my poofy dog. We had some food and then went to bed to huddle against the cold. The wind was howling through the trees, even the boyscouts went to bed it was so cold and noisy with mass insects and wind. ABout 3:30 in the morning I woke up. I woke up because for the first time over the 20 years I have gone to this site it was completely still. It is never still, there are always insect or wind noises. The hair on the back of my neck was tingling and my stomach was in a knot. My dog was also up and panting. It had gotten strangely warm. I unzipped my sleeping bag and sat up. Something wasn't right, so I figured it was a dream. I felt very uneasy though and pinched myself to make sure I was awake. My gf suddenly woke up as well and asked me what was going on. I was like, "listen".
    "To what?"
    "The Silence."
She said she had to go to the bathroom, that she felt ill. I told her not to go to close to the tent. it was pure black outside except for a sky of stars and a sickle moon. Only thing was that the moon was in an alignment I was not suspecting. I was staring up at it and noticed either a shooting star or satellite race by. My gf commented and asked me why there were no sounds. I said I didn't know but my sense of unease got even more foreboding as I stared at the moon. I think it was the planet Venus behind the thnnest crescent of the moon. It reminded me of the Arabian flag, a bright star behind the crescent moon. She asked me what it meant. I told her I didn't know. She said for some reason she felt like something was watching her. I told her it was probably a racoon but I too felt very uneasy. The dog would not come out of the tent- he was terribly afraid, and wouldn't even go to the bathroom. I tried to go back to bed but every time I would fall asleep I would dream of some kind of distorted being, with a horrible face and body. Definitely not of this world, and nightmarish. It was trying to tell me something but I couldn't understand the language and the sheer shock of its visage kept waking me up. Finally the sun rose and the dreams went away and I got some sleep.

It was definitely a very strange encounter, and it definitely felt like otherworldly. Ususally though I'm alone, so it was good to have someone there to corroborate my testimony.

I guess that is why the Natives made this place a place of power for vision questing.

    namaste,
    JB

Things are just different now I believe Jane, it seems easier to connect with those of the spirit realms and I believe entities we aren't familiar with will be popping up now and then. I just spent the weekend camping on a farm that dates to the 1800's. Of course the land itself is ageless and was the home of Native Americans. Artifacts are found all the time and there is a natural spring with caves so you know there were many past lives on the place. For the first time ever I had my bed covers pulled on and my shoulder petted by an unseen entity. this occured while I was completely awake and had justsettled in for the night. My tentmate saw a shadow person standing in the tent with us I found out later. This happened while attending a Lammas festival. ÂÂ* I am learning to expect the unexpected.

    Uaine,

That is creeptastic! I had that happen to me in Pentagon city in an apartment I lived in---and I promptly moved out! I moved back from Washington DC to New Jersey. That was about 7 years ago.

I'm just trying to figure out what the alignment in the sky meant. It seemed important- like that was the focus. I think my mind made up the other stuff. I am thinking that as we get closer to our new alignment in the cosmos, when Earth will be aligned with "The Eye of the Serpent" this will allow the interdimensional boundaries to vibrate at a resonant frequency enabling us to see more clearly. Last night for example there was an orb in my room going freakin nuts trying to get my attention. I woke up my gf because I wanted to know if she could see it to and she thought I was crazy. My altar room is just above my bedroom and it kept penetrating my ceiling of my bedroom and then streaking across the room to my side of the bed. I've been in a holding pattern in my life without a job, my gf lost her job, two kids to feed and put a roof over their head so I have been waiting in trepidation for some change. Perhaps this Llamas I will have some good news as I often get a lot of spirit activity during big changes/transitions in my life.

If anyone knows anything about the sickle moon, aka witche's moon, or Artemis bow and Venus alignment I would love to hear about it, or feel free to send me links.

    Thanks for the input ladies,
    JB

The funny thing about my experience was that I was not alarmed or frightened, just annoyed that I was being pestered. My first reaction was that I thought a snake had crawled under my blankets,it was that kind of heavy slithery feeling across my side at first. I was a little upset and frightened at that thought since there are poisonous snakes in that area. When I realized it was a spirit I was just annoyed, I told it to let me sleep, which it did. Guess I am more afraid of snakes then ghosts...
