I cannot get rid of the bloody Weeds!!!!
Seriously, I go out there and pull the little buggers and they come right back. I turn up the soil and they come right back. My poor pumpkins are so overwhelmed, that they are afraid to grow!!! I pulled out so much bindweed that I could twist a freaking rope. ARGH!!!!

I know how you feel. テつ*The house I'm renting now had its own forest worth of them when I moved in. テつ*No matter how much I work, I can't seem to make any progress.

I'm with you, Icetalon! テつ*For every wild onion I pull, twenty more come up in its place. テつ*I got behind on weeding the nasturtiums and the only way I knew where they were to look for the blooms. テつ*[lol]
Don't even get me started on the honeysuckle. I swear it's bent on world domination. テつ* テつ*

We've had so much rain here in the Alleghenies I need a machete and a safari to find the garden.

I have to admit, I have found a few interesting things in the yard that way. テつ*Native yarrow (which I was afraid had died out during the drought a few years ago), Queen Anne's lace (wild carrot) and Deptford Pinks. テつ*laethaween wrote:

BUT...wondering jew is another one of those "don't get me started" plants here. テつ*[lol] テつ* It gets into the irises and nearly choked out my black hollyhocks. テつ*I'm being to think I should just let it and the honeysuckle have it out. テつ*

A weed is a plant that's growing where you don't want it to. I generally move the interesting ones to the hill where it's too steep to want to garden or mow. So far the field asters, goldenrod and wild lilys are winning.

Re: I cannot get rid of the bloody Weeds!!!!
It wouldn't be so bad if the damned things would quit trying to choke out my veggies....which are finally starting to come around after nearly drowning last month. I have managed to confine most of them to the North end of the garden, but they still have the pumpkins in their sights. Its enough to drive a woman crazy!!

......... one thing I do is Put Down Wet Newspaper. Now, you have to cover over it with Mulch or Compost, but it Does keep the weeds out. I have had Limited Success with Vinegar; with vining plants, snip the vine about 4 inches from the bottom, and stick the end of the plant into a container of vinegar. It shocks the system without hurting the flowers around it.
