HAZEL
Â* This tree is the home to a quiet spirit of magick. All fruit and nut trees are symbolic of hidden wisdom. and the spirit of this tree can help you acquire hidden wisdom in a unique manner. It will awaken the intuition and insight, and it holds knowledge of the electromagnetic fields of the earth. Attuning to this spirit can reveal much information about dowsing. This Â*quiet spirit also holds knowledge of the weaving of words for great effects, and it can teach how to go within the quiet of one's own mind and consciousness (meditation).

Re: Trees and Their Spirits
Uaine do you think when I use the sawdust, wood chips and trimmings of my trees to preserve my food it imparts a bit of that power and spirit to all who eat it....I kind of like the idea of passing on some of those things to friends and family.

Re: Trees and Their Spirits
I believe wood taken from a live tree does keep a portion of the power particular to that tree. Tree spirits are not immortal, they pass on as we do when their tree dies. When a tree is cut down and the root dies, the spirit of that tree dies too. Many trees can regenerate from the root and grow again. Some trees are very difficult to kill and will continually try to regrow from the root while others are not so hardy. So I guess it depends upon if you are using wood from a live tree or wood from a dead tree. Intention during preparation will play a part too. Like using cedar wood to make a protective box. I invoke the spirit of the Cedar and ask for the protection.
Are you using the wood for smoking meats as preservation? This would be a good way to pass the essence of the tree spirit into your food. Perhaps using some green wood borrowed from a tree would work well too.

Â*HOLLY
Â*Technically, holly is a bush, but it has the power of a tree, and its spirit is often guardian to many of the "little People." The holly is home to great numbers of elves and faeries. It was sacred to the Druids who kept it in their homes during the winter to provide a haven for the faerie beings. Its spirit is often seen in masculine form, and it has knowledge of the angelic realm and how to connect more fully. It can show how best to become a true spiritual warrior, and if worked with, It can stimulate healing abilities.

MAPLE
This is a spirit who always appears in its true androgynous form, neither male nor female, embodying qualities of both. It has great knowledge of balance and how to use balance to stay connected to mother earth. It can awaken the feminine aspects of nurturing, intuition and creativity. The flowering maple draws many faeries to it, and if attuned to during that time, the faeries will assist you in fulfilling sweet promises and aspirations.
The maple is "my" tree. The towering red maple in my yard is the first tree I have ever come to know in a personal way. To me it is a best friend and companion and whom I go to if in need of a spiritual or physical boost. My sacred space for meditation and connecting to the earth is there. Through this tree I have learned to look at every other tree as an individual.
Â*Another large Â*maple in my yard manifested itself to a friend who happens to be a newly ordained Wiccan minister. We were doing a full moon circle under this tree. I did not detect this Â*presence but she saw and felt a presence following her as the cast the circle. It did not feel good to her and she was frightened but continued with the ritual. She felt "watched" the whole time she was in my yard. Â*She didn't tell me until a few days later, after she had confided to her mentor about it, and was told she had probably stepped on some toes by not acknowledging the locals. Â*The next time she came over the first thing she did was to leave an offering at the base of the tree. She hasn't come back yet for another ritual and I am courious to see what will happen then.

OAK
Â*The oak tree was sacred to the Celts and The Druids. It is home to a powerful spirit, which has great strength and endurance. It holds the ancient knowledge of the continuity of life, and just being near it is strengthening to the entire auric field. It is a natural doorway to the faerie realms and their mysteries. Every acorn has its own faerie, and bringing an acorn into your home is a way of inviting more intimate contact with the faeries for brief periods. The oak tree is aways home to great numbers of elves and faeries.
Â* The oak tree in which mistletoe is found is even more magickal and powerful. Mistletoe, although found in the masculine oak, has faeries associated with it that embody the feminine energies. Where mistletoe is found, there will be faerie protection of children and those who are connected with the child within. The faeries of the mistletoe hold the knowledge of invisibility and shape-shifting. They have great beauty and can stimulate fertility. Linking with mistletoe of the oak can awaken visions of your soul in the future.

Uaine I set up my outdoor altar right next to a small Hawthorn. I will take a picture of it when she starts getting pretty! She only stands maybe 15 ft tall right now but they seem to grow as much as 30 feet high and if left to grow probably as wide. I truely love these tree, and when I found it I new it was my special spot!! Didn't hurt that it is just off my fire circle! I knew she was majical when hurricane Ike dropped big trees all around her and missed her completely.Uaine wrote:

HAWTHORN
Â*The hawthorn is sacred to the faeries and elves. They hold great love for this tree and its spirit. This is the tree of magick...all of the magic found within the faerie realm, as well as protection against their magick. You must learn to be patient with the hawthorn spirit or those inner realm doors wil not be opened to their fullest. This spirit can stimulate growth and fertility in all areas of your life, making it seem enchanted to others.

PINE
Â*The pine tree has a powerful and ancient spirit. It has ties to the Dionysian Mysteries, and it was the sacred tree of Mithra, It was also sacred to Poseidon. Pine trees found along the shorelines are often gathering spots for water sprites and spirits. This tree's spirit is healing and balancing, especially to emotions. It can show how to express our creative energies without feelings of guilt. It is protective againt all forms of negativity.

ROWAN
The rowan is another ancient and magical tree. Its spirit holds the knowledge of the omens of nature and how to read them without becoming superstitious. This spirit is protective and visionary, and it can be used to connect with all goddesses. The wisdom of this spirit is so strong that when linked with, it can teach you to call up magick spirits, guides and elementals. It is a tree spirit who helps prvent intrusions by outside forces. It is grounding and prevents becoming lost in the faerie realm.
There is much written about the Rowan tree. It is well worth your time to read up on its mythology. Very sacred to the Druids for its protective nature it was "borrowed" by the Christians to become one of their symbols in England and Wales. They took to planting Rowans in the church yards to ward off witches, little did they know......
