The divinatory meaning of Ansuz:

Ansuz refers to Odin, the high god who embodies (amongst other things) breath, senses and the sacred word. As custodian of esoteric tradition and prophecy, Odin represents “the word” as it flows from the gateway of the mouth to the wider world. This rune, therefore, rules not only over the word, but over the spell, chant, prayer and breath as well.
On a mundane level it represents how we express ourselves in any way, but too compose ourselves and be sure of what we say before doing so.
Odin is the master of wizardry; incantations and divination (it was his sacrifice which brought us the runes), from this Ansuz could imply your progress into a deeper relationship with the mysteries or someone around you with these qualities.
Ansuz is the first of the 13 runes that make up the cycle of initiation. --Runes that focus directly upon the mechanism of self-change—and, as such, address’ our need to integrate unconscious motive with conscious intent.

Murkstave (Inverted meaning):

Inverted Ansuz could mean, miscommunication, misinformation or even trickery (there is a link between Ansuz and the god Loki “the trickster”). So attention to detail in dealings of any kind is important to avoid problems.

Keywords:
The god Odin, the mouth, breath, issues connected with speech and writing, the spoken word communication, the sacred oral tradition.

Murkstave: Misinformation, lies, falsity, and deceit; beguiling words bereft of truth or sentiment.

The use of Ansuz in magickal/Sigil workings:

1.***Increase of both active and passive magickal powers and clairvoyant abilities etc...
2.***Convincing and magnetic speech, and the power of suggestion and hypnosis.
3.***Acquisition of creative wisdom, inspiration, ecstasy and divine communication.
4.***Banishing of death and terror through knowledge of Odin.

Murkstave: Reverse of the above.
