Re: Tea Leaves
Reading tea leaves is a form of divination yes...and I would suggest getting some books on it to get familiar with this form of divination. To not know anything about it and want info on a small post like this is too much! after you get familiar with this form of divination then if you have questions about it...that is easier! This art of divination is seeing symbols in the wet tea leaves...thus you have to get familiar with the symbols and how to read them. Then you need to practice and experience it! Shadow7 why not see if you can get a book on it from the cauldron living store and at least get started on it first? [cool]

That's an excellent suggestion, fate. There's also something to be said about the self-satisfaction gained by doing your own research and taking the time to seek answers to your questions. [smile]

Re: Tea Leaves
I completely agree about the satisfaction of doing the research, but for a quick bit to tide you over I can tell you how its done in my family. I'm sure that others do it in different ways... but its the way I was taught.
First off, make yourself a good strong cuppa. (Important... this is not the time to rush or get antsy. Boil the water, warm a cup, measure out the loose tea of your choice - but nothing with too much other "stuff". Rose hips and orange peel might taste yummy, but not too helpful here. Make you cup of tea and let it steep until its good and strong. No sugar, no milk. Find yourself a quiet place to curl up and drink... slow and quiet. If you gulp the loose tea will rise up and you'll choke on them. Only by going slow and gentle will you keep the leaves at the bottom where they belong.
Think about what you are wanting guidance from. What's rambling around in your mind? What's the worry that you need a poke over? When you are almost to the end (yes, the tea was bitterish, but its for the best, helps clear the palate, mind and soul!) Now, place a saucer over the lid and flip the cup over. Tap the bottom of the cup once to make sure the leaves have fallen to the saucer.
Now. What does this mass look like? What does it remind you off? There are no right or wrong answers. Think of this as a self-served rorshak test. Let you subconcious and your spirit guide you here. This is just a way for you to let your mind off the leash and figure out what it is the REAL you is wanting your attention for. Its not the leaves...because to quote a favorite book of mine, Who's gonna tell any secrets to a mess of soggy leaves anyway? Its an excerise to learn to read yourself. Heck, coffee grounds Â*would probablly work, just not a great way to relax -loose coffee <shudder>. Just let yourself trust IN yourself and fish around for answers.
There. That's how I learned it anyway. Hope it helps hon.

Welcome to Cauldron Living! "Historical storyteller", does that mean you do the in-costume historical re-enacting at places? I've always enjoyed that sort of interpretation, it's a great way to...
