Keep your elbow in and on your side. Â*Your arm should come across your body so that your forearm is resting on your chest. Â*This leaves your wrist and hand free floating in the air, but with a good base. Â*This also means that your other hand is underneath it, above your navel (the solar plexus), which may not be the way you are comfortable. Â*

Regardless, the key is a good base to support the hand, and everywhere I have read says to keep the elbow in. [smile]

I hope it works for you.

I was using the pendulum for Uaine's Chakra balacing exercise, and I kinda like to think, with the placement of my hands, I was connecting my 4th and 3rd chakras. (Again, the forearm diagnals up from the elbow to the heart.)

    Take care,

Mazama Moon, sorry but I have to disagree the hand you sry with(left side phycic side)should not be touching your body exept the sholder lol and you should be standing up with your feet on the floor to keep your energy flowing. With your right hand you can do what Mazama Moon said and hold your left still with the right.Good Luck

I just started using a pendulem in connection with my Reiki healing, and our class uses it standing and sitting with no problem. It is such a trip how that little sucker moves all on its own. In my humble newbie opinion, it's a total spirit thing & the details of how it is done don't matter. I will say that I usually only use it for a few minutes at a time, so maybe it's normal for your arm to become unsteady? Hopefully you will get some other responses too. Happy pendeling!

Mazama...that is what I was taught too![cool] You also use whatever hand you want...there are no real rules to this method of divination! Also the area of psychic ability is the third eye ~[grin]

[grin] Oh yay! Â*I was simply going with instinct...I'm so glad you validated me. Â*(I am self-taught, but it feels good when another does things the same way--means I am not in left field!) Â*

But as you say, there are no rules, just what you are comfortable with. [cool]
