    Mammoth Cave National Park
Submitted by Cauldron Living member mateekez

Recently I had a chance to visit Mammoth Cave National Park located in Mammoth Cave, KY. *It was one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. There was ancient tree's everywhere! The park was established on July 1, 1941 to protect the 365 miles of caves beneath. The oldest part of the cave began forming over 10 million years ago. Inside the park there are over 700 endangered animals. *Mammoth Cave is the world's longest known cave. In fact it is so long that if the second ...

    Cave of the Mounds
Written by Cauldron Living staff writer Tommy Watson

I had the chance to visit a great treasure in Wisconsin the first of this month. *The Cave of the Mounds is located in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin. *The town was so named because of the great rolling grassy hills, which surround the area. *A lead miner, Ebenezer Brigham in 1828, settled the area where the cave is located. *On August 4, 1939 a limestone mining explosion accidentally discovered the cave. *When the cave was revealed the miners were advised to wait for three days before exploring the cave, yet the anticipation was so great they only waited three hours. *From that point on all mining ceased and excavation of the ruble began.

As parents, sometimes all we want is a time of quiet. Wrestling with all there is to do and with the kids watching television, playing with toys and yelling (with distress or glee), this seems to be nearly imposable. But, why should it? Take the time to teach the young ones how to meditate. You must have patience with this as the outcome will generally not be what you wish it to be but, the lessons are so important regardless.

Infants, of course, will not understand any of the how or why of meditation. However, there are great benefits for them. Take your child in your arms after she has been changed, feed and burped. Sit or lie in a comfortable position with the lights low. ...

Take a Break from the Cold, Dark and Gloom.

These pictures were submitted by Cauldron Living member Moon during a trip to the Castleriggs stone circle in September.

I thought it might be nice to take a visual break from the increasing darkness and remember that after winter the world will turn green once again. The Castlerigg stone circle is still a mystery to us.

However, there is a variety of interesting speculation to think upon. Which brings me to a suggestion of a meditation exercise; give it a try before you do a search on the internet for more information on the Castlerigg stone circle.

    Chakra Healing
By Cauldron Living staff writer Cherie

Current pagan traditions are often a collection of global beliefs. In many rituals and practices, we can see traces of Celtic shamanism, Native American beliefs, voodoo, and Taoism for example. The idea of energy generated from an individual is not a new concept. Neither is the idea that this energy can be used to heal. Holistic healthcare today works towards creating ...

At the Winter Solstice, we celebrate Children's Day to honour our children and to bring warmth, light and cheerfulness into the dark time of the year. Holidays such as this have their origin as "holy days". They are the way human beings mark the sacred times in the yearly cycle of life.

Winter Solstice/Yule: Activities, Carols, Crafts, Facts, and Rituals

by Cauldron Living Staff Writer thelma6954

The great Wheel of the Year has turned once more, and on December 22nd of this year, it brings Pagans, Wiccans, and Witches in the Northern Hemisphere the quarter sabbat that's known as the Winter Solstice or Yule. The Winter Solstice marks the first official day of Winter and the longest night of the year. It also commemorates the rebirth of the Sun, that from this night forward, will bring gradually longer days.

    Litha/Summer Solstice
Written by Cauldron Living staff writer Thelma6954

Litha, also commonly referred to as the Summer Solstice, is the sabbat that occurs each year around June 21st in the Northern Hemisphere and December 21st in the Southern Hemisphere. On modern-day calendars, it marks the first official day of Summer. However, according to old folklore, Summer actually begins on Beltane (May 1st) and ends on Lammas (August 1st), thus putting the Summer Solstice midway between the two. This explains why the Summer Solstice is sometimes also called Midsummer. Other names for this holiday include Alban Heruin, Sun Blessing, Gathering Day, and St. John's Day.

    Imbolc Activities and Crafts
Written by Cauldron Living staff writer Thelma6954

The Wheel of the Year turns once more, bringing us the Cross-Quarter sabbat of Imbolc. Falling on February 2nd, Imbolc is also known by the names Imbolg, Candlemas, Oimelc, Lupercus, Lupecal, Brigid's Day, St. Brigit's
Day, Bride's Day, Lady's Day, and the Festival of Lights.

Oimelc literally means, "Ewe's milk," and Imbolc means, "in the belly," both referencing the pregnancy of sheep and other animals in spring. Although spring is still officially more than six weeks away, Imbolc is a day to celebrate its first glimpses. It is a time of cleansing and purification to rid ourselves of old habits and make room in our lives and homes for the Earth's upcoming bounty. This day is also sacred to the Celtic Goddess Brigid, who reigns over Fire (smith crafting), Art (poetry), and Healing (midwifery). ...
