    When I turned fifteen, I discovered that my way of life had a name: Paganism. As any blossoming Pagan does, I gathered every book I could find and devoured them all. They spoke of beautiful things -- spells and magick and rituals and blessings. But one of the most sacred ideas I encountered was the concept of animal totems.

    The Crafty Witch: Pagan Prayer Flags

    Millions of people, every day, pray for peace. Voices rise in sweet exaltation to gods and goddesses; mantras are chanted, and prayer beads clink. People bow, their heads brushing against the earth, and women dance beneath trees on a sun-baked hillside. Children whisper rhymes and fold their hands. Tears fall upon clasped fingers, and somewhere, in every moment, a changed heart whispers the want and need for it, so elusive, so wished-for - peace.
    Pagans are no different. We light candles, whirl in colorful skirts and raise our hands to the glorious sun in an attempt to bring this ideal into fruition. We perform rituals and ask the Goddess for some difference, some quiet moment when there is no bloodshed or hatred. ...
