As parents, sometimes all we want is a time of quiet. Wrestling with all there is to do and with the kids watching television, playing with toys and yelling (with distress or glee), this seems to be nearly imposable. But, why should it? Take the time to teach the young ones how to meditate. You must have patience with this as the outcome will generally not be what you wish it to be but, the lessons are so important regardless. Infants, of course, will not understand any of the how or why of meditation. However, there are great benefits for them. Take your child in your arms after she has been changed, feed and burped. Sacred Spaces: Outdoor Altars by Jayne Bond In addition to having a sacred space to work in within your home if you have a yard and want to create an outdoor altar location here are some suggestions based on my teachings that you might like to incorporate into your garden. In your yard the best place again is one that is not heavily trafficked by people or animals. It should provide you a bit of cover as well so you can dance, sing and hold ceremony without you feeling like your neighbors are watching you as being self conscious will not help you to focus. Clearing an unused weed patch surrounded by trees is your best bet, or setting one up near a water source such as a stream or pond also are good options. Here in northern New Jersey I live by a woodland so I actually cleared a bramble patch near two features which I feel are important to using outdoor magick: an oak tree and a barrow mound. ...

    1. Garden Witches

A quiet, sunny corner of your garden can become a place of refuge when healing is needed, a private place where you ask the Goddess for special favors for yourself and those close to you.

Sometimes people we love ask us to perform special rites for them when they are dealing with serious health issues. We may feel helpless to assist, because we are enjoined as witches to cast spells and perform ...

Cave of the Mounds Written by Cauldron Living staff writer Tommy Watson I had the chance to visit a great treasure in Wisconsin the first of this month. *The Cave of the Mounds is located in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin. *The town was so named because of the great rolling grassy hills, which surround the area. *A lead miner, Ebenezer Brigham in 1828, settled the area where the cave is located. *On August 4, 1939 a limestone mining explosion accidentally discovered the cave. *When the cave was revealed the miners were advised to wait for three days before exploring the cave, yet the anticipation was so great they only waited three hours. *From that point on all mining ceased and excavation of the ruble began. ...
