    Default License plates

Do you have any plates for the front of my car? I live in a one plate state and the front is naked.

In the state of TEXAS , it is a law! Other states vary. Just need to check with your D.P.S. A thought...if they give you two when you pick them up...you therefore most likely must use them! [wink]

Yes, the law varies in different states. And, Bunny, some states call it the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles). Calling it DPS is something else that took me a while to get used to in TX since the department's title didn't make that much sense to me. [smile]

I know here in Alabama there is no two plate rule, we are just given the one. In Montana there are two plates for use. I believe Virginia is the same with two plates, but it's been so long I don't remember 100%. [smile]

I just moved from a two plate state. What does DPS stand for? It has been DMV in the 13 states I've lived in.

That's exactly what I wondered when I moved to Texas. And, after imacmike told me, I still thought it was odd that the department having to do with licenses and vehicles was called the Department of Public Safety, since that seems so generic a term that could apply to almost anything. I still called it the DMV my first couple of years here because I couldn't remember DPS. Old habits are hard to break! [lol]
