    Default The Mists Of Avalon

In my opinion its THE BEST BOOK EVER. The movie kinda sucked though. I love the book!!! You can see how they used to celebrate Beltane,Midsummer e.t.c. Also me and Mogain (Morgain of the Fairies) are really alike.. The why part is something personal! Have anyone read it?

I agree with you about the movie. It was fairly awful. I've read the book twice, at least, and I thought the author did a good job with the research into the Arthurian legends (not that I'm an expert or anything.)

As for the rest, it was a good read and certainly a good inspiration for modern rituals. Was it based in fact? I don't know. There's no solid proof of the existence of Arthur, his knights or any of the characters in the legends. That said, I'll be the first to tell you "real" or "factual" doesn't always matter, especially if you get something helpful out of it.

    /lecture mode (sorry. )

I agree. It is indeed a very touching book. I had a hard time finishing it because... I don't know. It kinda hurt for a reason. Although I simply adore it I found it touching too. But still I can manage reading it again!

This book is what originally got me into paganism in the first place. It's my favorite book of all time.

I saw the *horrible* TNT movie first, and at the time (as a preteen) it sparked my interest. Then, at thirteen, I was in a library and saw it sitting on the bookshelf. "I didn't know it was a book too!"
I finished it in a week, and I became hungry for knowledge. Certain things concerning Christianity directly contradicted what I felt was the truth...and I suppose it started from there.

It's funny that you post this now, because I just started rereading it after years of it sitting dusty on my bookshlf!
