Jane Eyre and other Victorian Era Fiction
I am in a Victorian Literature class and I am in love with it! I had no idea. I had read Wuthering Heights before and loved it, but didn't realize it was Victorian till now. We just finished reading Jane Eyre and I LOVE it. I even didn't mind the religion thrown in there. I just watched the 1973 BBC adaptation of it (starring Michael Jayston and Sorcha Cusack) and loved it. I thought the last half was a little rushed, with parts missing and one scene not portrayed the way it was written, but the rest was mostly accurate. I will be watching all the other adaptations too, so if anyone has any suggestions for favorites, if you've seen them, I'd appreciate it.
Does anyone else love that book? Most of the people in my class hated Rochester, but I loved him. I thought he was a great and lovable character...
Your thoughts?

You will also like Tess of the D'Ubervilles, since it also a Victorian Era book. Love it.

Yay.... Bodice rippers! I love em!
The Bronte's are fab as is Charles Dickens (although he can be really hard going at times)
I also love Jane Austen although she's a bit earlier

Re: Jane Eyre and other Victorian Era Fiction
Nope. I read Wuthering Heights last semester, and read Jane Eyre this semester. I've read Oliver Twist, and currently reading Lady Audley's Secret. But the first two are the only Bronte books I've read...Oonagh wrote:
