Well...This will be the fourth blog I have to manage! Yikes...Hope I'm not biting off more than I can chew, BUT I do love to write and communicate, so we'll see.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of going on air on a local radio station and talking about my Wiccan beliefs. I was giving my contrasting POV with a woman who was a witch and is now Christian. Her arguments, sad to say, were quite weak and disjointed. SHe came off sounding as though she still hadn't quite found waht she was looking for. But I do wish her the best.

It was thrilling for me to sit and discuss my beliefs openly and hoenstly. I have always been honest...I'm th only person I know of in this small island (Barbados) who publicly had a Wiccan/Buddhist wedding and a Wiccaning for my baby girl. Most people know who I am and what I am, and I do get some weird looks. Barbados is 905 Christian and quite conservative (read: close-minded). I like shaking things up. I'm not WIccan because it is not the norm or because I want to shock people, but I msut admit it's a nice side effect!

I want to raise my daughter to be open and to excercise temperance and common sense. Too often IO find people get waaaay too carried away in their own little worlds, never thinking about the bigger picture, the huge beautiful earth they are on, the world the belong to. They're so insular, so closed-off, so fearful. I want my baby to embrace that which is different, to try to understand that which she does not, to actively seek after information, to unahsamedly ask questions and to relish getting the answers, to be alive with curiosity about the world, and to know when to be cautious or to dig deeper.

I think we all need some of that!
