It was a little after 10AM and we were off to a late start.

To the casual observer, it may have looked like I was merely sitting around in my pajamas, drinking tea, and half-heartedly cooking biscuits. But, in reality, the morning was already fraught with magick.

For the biscuits, I used a recipe given to me by my husband's grandmother. She had recently passed and so while getting my supplies, I was thinking of her quirky spirit and words of wisdom. I mixed the dough with my favorite wooden spoon, given to me by my mother (who, like me, believes you can never have too many wooden spoons!) I feel it just oozes positive energy and would be perfect for what I was doing: stirring in thoughts of happiness and harmony. The biscuits then cooked in a cast iron pan: better for my family's and the Earth's health, and I used a bamboo spatula to flip them over (also eco friendly and a better conveyer of energy.)

When my Green Tea finished steeping, I took out the herbs and gently squeezed the last drops from them, then held them in my hands, and aligned the last remaining energies to healing. Then I said I simple chant over them, asking that wherever they would end up that they would help heal the Earth.

So, yes, I may have just been sitting there, in my pajamas, drinking tea, and making biscuits, but every action was purposeful. And so, the morning was full of magick, ancestor veneration, and reverence for the Earth. And yes, the rest of the day has, and will, continue on the same. Such is the life of the Kitchen Witch, where every action has the potential for magick, no matter how trivial or mundane.
